Our 2018 Gallup employee engagement survey results are in -- and the API department held steady in the top quartile. In our results (just out this month), the API department as a whole ranks at 77%. Our overall score for 2018 is 4.07, compared with 4.02 for the central IT average that includes IST/RTL/SAIT/CSS-IT & Healthcare-IT, (and the 4.09 we got last year vs. 4.05 for the IST average). For 2018, IST made an effort to work on the "I know what is expected of me at work" question. This year we held steady on that question, with a 4.13, compared with 4.31 for the IT-wide average (compared with last year's API department score of 4.14 vs. 4.28 for IST). For the "There is someone at work who encourages my development" question this year we scored 4.14, compared with the central IT average of 3.95 (and our department score last year of 4.24 vs the IST score of 4.07).
I wanted to close by sharing a post from Gallup, The Right Culture: Not Just About Employee Satisfaction
Engaging employees takes work and commitment, but it is not impossible. One-third of the overall U.S. workforce is engaged. And many organizations come to Gallup with even lower percentages of engaged employees -- the median engagement level among our first-year clients is 30%.
